PRESS RELEASE 12 May 1993

BOYCOTT STOCKHAUSEN!

LEVITATE THE PAVILION!

On Saturday 15 May 1993 at 2pm in protest against Ian Stuart's performance of Stockhausen's Harlequin, the Neoist Alliance will attempt to levitate the Pavilion Theatre, Brighton.

‘We object to Stockhausen because his music and theoretical writings are elitist and imperialist,’ explains Stewart Home, spokesperson for the Neoist Alliance. ‘Using techniques passed down to us from secret societies such as the Rosicrucians and the Illuminati, we’ll attempt to levitate the Pavilion Theatre. This is the most effective and least violent way in which we can disrupt the concert.’

On the 14 and 15 May the Neoist Alliance will be distributing leaflets in the Brighton area asking people to boycott the Stockhausen concert. A copy of the leaflet is enclosed. It explains why the Neoist Alliance objects to Stockhausen's work and briefly outlines the long history of opposition to ‘serious culture’.
