RE-ENTER THE DRAGON BY STEWART HOME AT QUEENS PARK RAILWAY CLUB AS PART OF GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL 2016 Queens Park Railway Club, 492 Victoria Rd, Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8PQ. Re-Enter The Dragon is a forty-one minute essay film using found footage and narration to explore the Brucesploitation martial arts film subgenre. For its initial screening as part of Glasgow International, Home combined the film with a display of Brucesploitation DVDs and a series of morphs exploring occult androgyny. There is a strong homo-erotic current to much martial arts cinema, and in order to fully realise 'himself' the male dragon must merge with the phoenix, as a kind of shemale who rises above the limitations of conventional gender division. Yin and yang are only realised when they are touch and merged with each other. The morphs were made by reposing a series of photographs of a London based witch that Stewart Home had inherited after this wiccan's untimely death in 2014. The morphs are a collaboration between Home and re-photography specialist Chris Dorley Brown who had previously worked together on visual works such as Becoming (M)Other and The Age of Anti-Ageing. Below are a series of installation shots of Re-Enter The Dragon at Queens Park Railway club taken by Patrick Jameson (who co-curated the show with Leanne Hooper).
