STEWART HOME ALBUM - PROLETARIAN POST-MODERNISM RELEASED BY TEST CENTRE, LONDON, NOVEMBER 2013

Recorded as a live performance (on the 12th of June 2012 at Hannah Barry Gallery, London), the first side of the album kicks off with some of the 100 word paragraphs that make up the anti-novel Down & Out In Shoreditch and Hoxton, before moving into Dish Bananas Black, the first of six understated poems. An extract taken from one of Home's more recent books, Blood Rites of the Bourgeoisie morphs a list of who's who in the art world to penis enlargement spam. Side A closes with Book Shredding an amalgamation of Home shredding a copy of one his own books whilst making ironic comments about modern art. Side B features a studio-based recording of Cunt Lickers Anonymous. This is a satire attacking London’s literary and visual art world ‘elites’ of the 1990s.

"Absurd, crude and comical extracts are showcased in typical Stewart Home fashion offering an intelligent analysis and perspective on contemporary culture from one of Britain’s most prolific and controversial literary figures. Known for baffling critics and audiences with his non-narrative books and experimental art, Proletarian Post-Modernism is a much more cohesive piece of work, playing like a beginners guide to Stewart Home." Alan Byatt in Flux Magazine.

Stewart Home's Sleeve Notes For The Album

Among the many things I do on this microgrooved long player is recite from one of my novels while standing on my head. This enables both you and me to hear how being upside down changes my voice. Less obvious is the fact that I recite all my texts from memory when I 'read' in public; but when you know I'm not reading from the page then maybe it is possible to sense this in the urgency of my performance. Synesthesia is a crucial component of this release and you will see the sounds on this record as much as hear them.

Another thing my word pictures do is give people better orgasms. Even if you're already having mind-blowing sex, listening to this record once through in the morning will ensure that your love-making goes to the next level at night! As well as initiating you into the secrets of tantric sex, this release is also perfect accompaniment for laughing meditation. Just stick the record on and laugh your ass off. Before you know it you'll be enlightened and having even better sex! So dim the lights, put this album on your deck and get your groove on!

Stewart Home's Proletarian Post-Modernism was released on 21 November 2013 and launched with a reading and a live art performance at The Test Centre, Building F. 110 Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0JX on 23 November 2013.
